Frequently Asked Questions

Women's Health Disparities

Q: What exactly are health disparities, and why do they disproportionately affect women?

A: Health disparities are preventable differences in health outcomes between different groups of people. In women's health, these disparities show up as unequal access to care, differences in treatment quality, and varying health outcomes based on factors like race, income, geography, and insurance status. For example, Black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women, regardless of education or income level. At FemmEquity Health, we use public health data to expose these gaps and transform insights into actionable advocacy and policy recommendations.
